Time Tracking (Available in Pro and Unlimited plan)
Tracking time
TeamGantt now takes the guesswork out of tracking the amount of time you spend working on a task. To make it easy, there are multiple places where you can start tracking your time.
From My Tasks
We recommend starting each day—or even each new task—by going to My Tasks located in the left sidebar menu. From there, simply click the clock icon to begin tracking time:
Click Start Timer to start the clock! (Or you can also manually enter time for a task you've already worked on.)
The timer will continue recording time spent on a task until you tell it to stop. To stop the timer, select the green ticker at the top of your window—or the purple clock icon next to the task itself—and click Stop Timer.
Feel free to attribute your tracked time to a different task, update your task's overall percent complete, and/or add a comment to the task before clicking the Stop Timer button to log your time.
Stopping the timer automatically logs the time you spent on your task to your Time Sheet.
Note: Time can only be tracked on a single task at a time. You'll need to punch out of one task to begin tracking time on the next.
From Gantt or List view in your project
You have 2 options for tracking time directly from your project's Gantt or List view:
- Hover over the task, and click the gray clock icon that appears to the left of the task's name.
- Or, click the green clock icon at the top of your project.
Select Start Timer to start the clock! (Or you can manually enter time for a task you've already worked on.)
The timer will continue recording the time spent on a task until you click Stop Timer. To stop the timer, select the green ticker at the top of your window—or the gray clock icon that appears next to your task's name—and "punch out."
If you stop the time tracker by using the green ticker, you also have the option to attribute your tracked time to a different task, update your task's overall percent complete, and/or add a comment to the task:
From your Time Sheet
Your Time Sheet is a comprehensive dashboard of your tracked time across all projects. Access your Time Sheet from the left sidebar menu:
From here, you'll be taken to a screen that shows the tasks assigned to you for the current week. Use the toggle to view time tracked for previous or future weeks.
In the example below, you can see that 4 hours were spent on "Determine Competitors" and 8 minutes were spent on "Determine Budget" on Thursday, July 12:
Want to add or edit time for a task? Simply click into the time field, and enter the hours and minutes (H:MM) you worked on the task.
Viewing tracked time in Gantt view
To easily view all tracked time in your project, enable the Actual Hours column from your View menu:
This will show you all tracked time for each task and task group, as well as the project as a whole.
